Why Glass? You know art is good when people pause to gaze at it. You know it is super when viewers are fixated. When I was a young child, a neighbor boy pulled a few fragments of glass form his pocket. They were from a broken reflector at the end of our street. The red and amber pieces radiated in the sunlight. Their brilliance was more impressive than any jewelry-store ruby, sapphire, or emerald. I hurried to the end of the street and dug through gravel to find a few more small fragments. As I held them in the sun, a warm sensation penetrated my soul. To this day, if I observe sunlight radiating from distant red and amber taillights I feel the same sensation. Perhaps this is why I have chosen glass as my medium of preference.
