Reception: Tue, Oct 17, 6–7pm
I have titled this exhibit Seeking Grace because I am always inspired by nature and its astounding beauty. Sometimes, we need to recharge and walk away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in search of the grace and healing energy provided by Mother Nature. When I am "working" I always feel a connection with my spirit. It humbles me to think grace can move through me and out to others who appreciate my work or trust me to offer them advice on their art in process.
By schooling and work experience, I am a mechanical engineer. I have had a wonderful career working in many exciting industries including aerospace, aviation, flight simulation, software development, medical device, defense electronics, and quality management consulting.
In 2012, though, (after a few decades of life) I discovered something I didn't know about myself. Thanks to Harold "Pete" Petersen, a celebrated Utah artist and gifted teacher in Salt Lake City, I learned that I could draw and paint! Between jobs, I took a few months of lessons from Pete and found joy and fulfillment like I'd never known before. In August 2016, with Harold Petersen's blessing, I became an instructor at the Petersen Art Center in drawing and watercolor.
I am currently marketing my work locally in Salt Lake City at Dancing Cranes and through my Etsy shop called Tina Vigos Studios. I have also had some very rewarding results from commission work and have sold a few originals. My work is available for sale in giclée prints of any size and I also have blank notecards available separately or in boxed assortments.
I have met many wonderful people while participating in a number of events, like the Ogden Nature Center Spring Birdhouse Competition, the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, the Downtown Salt Lake City Farmers Market, the Utah State Fair, the Sandy Art Guild Show, and the Salt Lake Christmas Gift Show. In 2016, I had my first solo exhibition at The Salt Lake Culinary Center's Amuse-Bouche Gallery and was honored to be the featured artist for The Left Fork Grill. In 2017, I exhibited at the Millcreek Library and Community Center in February, and I had an abstract piece on display at the 93rd Annual Spring Salon at the Springville Museum of Art this summer. I am looking forward to meeting you at this exhibit!
My dear husband Michael, Heath Brown at MasterLab, very special friends of my heart, my wonderful family at the Petersen Art Center and the terrific people I have met at special events or online have blessed me many times over through their encouragement, support, and joyful spirits.
My art is my passion, and it nourishes my soul. I'm honored to share this part of me with you!
NOTE: This exhibit was originally scheduled to show at the Sprague Branch, but due to the damage sustained due to flooding, the exhibit had been relocated to the Day-Riverside Branch.
