What is God and Who is Muhammad? A Primer on Islamic Theology
Presented by Professor Nebil Husayn, Ph.D.
The talk will serve as a brief introduction to Muslim discussions about the concept of God and Muhammad. During this interactive discussion, attendees will also have the opportunity to pose questions and reflect on the following themes with one another: how do Muslims understand the concept of God? Are there problems with using the Arabic word for God? What common legacy does Islam share with Judaism and Christianity? Do Muslims reject or accept the salvation of Jews and Christians? What is the Quran? Who is Muhammad?
Professor Nebil Husayn is a specialist in the field of Islamic studies. His research broadly encompasses the development of Islamic theology and history. Professor Husayn obtained his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University and a Master's degree in the same field from Harvard University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Miami.
