Kick off United We Read with a celebratory launch! Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams and representatives from The Salt Lake City Public Library, Murray Library, and Salt Lake County Library Services will speak about United We Read, and a discussion of the novel A Man Called Ove will follow.

From January through May 2017, United We Read will encourage everyone in Salt Lake County to connect by reading the same book and by sharing their experience with others. A collaboration between Murray Library, Salt Lake City Public Library, and Salt Lake County Library Services, this initiative will center around the novel A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. Learn more by visiting unitedwereadslc.org and by following the United We Read Facebook page.

A Man Called Ove, written by Swedish author Fredrik Backman, is a New York Times bestseller and the County Library’s 2015 Reader’s Choice winner. Covering a variety of topics—marriage, caregiving, mental health, suicide, immigration, auto mechanics, construction, and, most importantly, kindness—it provides multiple opportunities for readers to relate to the book’s diverse cast of characters and to the concept of community.
