    A weekly meetup for creators, writers, and artists, using Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way as a springboard.Through exercises, journaling, and discussion, this group will help you overcome creative block and kickstart new artistic endeavors.

  • Bike the Branches

    Bike the Branches

    Learn about safe urban bike riding from the Bicycle Collective and take part in a group ride that will depart from the Main Library and stop at the Glendale, Day-Riverside, and Marmalade Branches. The bike ride will be approximately 15 miles long, with stops for refreshments at each Library location. Bike riders of all ages are welcome. Be sure to wear a helmet! Space is limited and registration is required for this program.

Starting June 1, stop by any City Library location to sign up and grab a tracker full of activities that challenge you to READ, CREATE, EXPLORE, and MOVE. There's something for all ages so everyone can get in on the fun! Track your progress for a chance to win prizes and make it a Super Summer. Enjoy free events at the Library all summer long.

    Get to know new faces from your neighborhood and expose yourself to books you might not normally read at this monthly book club gathering. Gatherings taking place February and later will focus on a pre-selected title.

    The City Library’s Sprague Branch has reopened with limited service. The main level of the building is open with "express services," including holds pick-up, a small collection of materials, a handful of public access computers with shortened time limits, and free public WiFi Internet access.

    Classics Under the Stars

    Celebrate the Chapman Branch's Centennial Summer with free popcorn and outdoor screenings of classic films. Bring your own comfy chair and a refreshing beverage, wear a retro outfit, and don't forget the bug spray! All films start at 8:30pm in the back parking lot of the Chapman Branch. Screenings will move indoors in case of rain.

    Fill out this form if you want to table at the The City Library's 10th annual Alt Press Fest! The fest celebrate zines, all forms of alternative press, and the awesome people who create it in Salt Lake City. The Call for Entries form will be open through Thursday, July 26.

    The second Friday of each month, take part in The Leonardo's Trivia night and see how much you know about current events, science, pop culture, history, and more.

A whimsical workshop all about Dr. Seuss! Discover the ins-and-outs of musical theatre by learning the songs and choreography from the hit musical Seussical, then perform for friends and family on the Library stage. For ages 6 and up.

CALL FOR ENTRIES

Exhibits are chosen by a staff committee according to the needs and interests of the community, the variety of shows, the artistic quality of the works, and the suitability of format for each library's physical space. Submissions are accepted twice annually: during the two-week periods prior to April 10 and October 10.



TEEN ART EXHIBIT CALL FOR ENTRIES

Teen artists and art instructors, submit your or your student's portfolio to be featured at The City Library! We are always on the lookout for original art exhibitions for the Main Library's Canteena Space on Level 2, and welcome submissions year-round.
